  • Meet the Core Bamboo Team: Shan

    April 8, 2013

Meet Shan, product designer here at Core Home.

What do you do when not working here at Core Home?
I like traveling, or "urban exploration".

When you were 7, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A wizard. No joke. My father is a chemical engineer, so I got to play with testing tubes and microscopes a lot. I was hoping to grow some kind of new species in there.

Would you prefer to be the tortoise or the hare?
    I am a hare… but I am learning to be a tortoise.

What flavor ice cream would you be?
Most likely I'd be green tea flavored ice cream.

    What is your favorite color?
Purplish blue - the sunset color in the sky.

What is the last book you read?
I am reading a book on the daily life of China in the 20s -- it's fascinating to see how much modern technologies have changed our lives in 100 years.

  • Meet the Core Bamboo Team: Sarah

    March 18, 2013

Meet Sarah, sales admin here at Core Home.

What do you do when not working here at Core Home?
I like to spend time playing games with friends. If I’m not hanging out playing cards or a board game, I’m on my computer playing with out-of-state friends over the internet.

When you were 7, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I used to sit my younger siblings in front of my chalkboard easel and play school. I would teach a lesson and even hand out grades. Students today should be relieved that I did not pursue a career in education.

Would you prefer to be the tortoise or the hare?
I’m definitely the tortoise. I sometimes let perfectionism sneak in and want to make sure everything is correct, but I’m also quick to use that knowledge and experience to create a shortcut for future projects.

If you were a dessert, which one would you be?
If I were a dessert, I would be tiramisu. It looks serious, but is actually cheesy and filled with coffee.

    What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is purple. My first car, a beat-up hand-me-down, was purple, and I miss it. Silver sedans are just harder to find in a crowded lot.

What is the last book you read?
A friend gave me Bill Bryson’s A Short History of Nearly Everything. Incredibly fascinating and filled with science geekery.

  • Meet the Core Bamboo Team: Alice

    February 7, 2013

Meet Alice, assistant controller here at Core Home.

What do you do when not working here at Core Home?
Sleep!!! I also love hanging out with friends and family; sleep, watching movies, sleep, finding new (hopefully good) restaurants to try. By the way, did I say sleep?!

When you were 7, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a NBA player. Instead I'm 5'3 and a girl... WNBA! The dream lives!

Would you prefer to be the tortoise or the hare?
    Tortoise…

What flavor ice cream would you be?
I'd be mango ice cream, it's my all-time favorite!!

    What is your favorite color?
    I love anything blue.

What is the last movie you saw?
"Zero Dark Thirty" - terrorists must be heavy sleepers. A helicopter crashed in their backyard and they are still Zzzzzz...

  • Meet the Core Bamboo Team: Ashley

    January 8, 2013

ashleyMeet Ashley, a graphic designer here at Core Home.

What do you do when not designing here at Core Home?
I love to cook. Whether its making chicken soup for a friend who's sick or a bacon flavored birthday cake for my dog Tobbie, I'm always making excuses to try something new.

    What inspires your designs?
I like simplistic clutter free designs that tell a story. I believe the cleaner the design,  the greater the impact.

When you were 7, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A vet. I love animals, as is reflected in the way I treat my dog..... Did I mention he gets his very own birthday cake?

Would you prefer to be the tortoise or the hare?
Definitely the hare. We live in a fast paced world and I want to take part in all of it.  I'm not the type to lay on the beach all day. I want to ride my bike on the boardwalk, go for a swim, build a sand castle, take a surfing lesson, play a few rounds of volleyball......

If you were a can of soup, which one would you be?
I would probably be mushroom barely, considering I have it all the time for lunch. Anything with a little white wine is fine by me.

    What is your favorite color?
Red. I love the fact it represents two very different emotions. Love and hate.

What is the last book you read?
Vanished Smile: the Mysterious Theft of the Mona Lisa which is based on the true life disappearance and Thomas Crown-like return in 1911. Really interesting and highly recommended for all.

  • Meet the Core Bamboo Team: Shannon

    July 18, 2012

Meet Shannon, the director of web here at Core Home.

What do you do when not taking care of the web here at Core Home?
You can find me outside - gardening, walking my dog, playing with my little girl, camping, looking for swimming holes.

When you were 7, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a singer. My 7 year old self clearly did not understand how poorly I sing.

Would you prefer to be the tortoise or the hare?
I never sit still. I am always moving, always doing something. I am clearly a hare.

If you were a can of soup, which one would you be?
I would be a mason jar full of tomato soup made from the tomatoes in my garden.

    What is your favorite color?
    "Adopt a highway sign" blue

What is the last book you read?
I read books constantly. I read to my daughter. I read on the subway. I read any moment I have time. I am currently reading "Rules of Civility", a beautiful book about New York in the late 1930's
